In Week One of Term One 2020, Year 5 students will participate in two days of outdoor education entitled ‘Year 5 Big Days Out’. These days will be held at Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp on Thursday 6 February and Friday 7 February and will run from 8.45am – 5.00pm each day.
On these days, the students will be challenged to develop the skills and mindset to be able to work as part of a team and to lead others. They will participate in a number of team-building activities that aim to build their cooperation, communication and leadership skills as well as developing trust and interdependence. The interaction between the students outside the school environment will also assist in developing their social skills as they gain respect for others’ opinions, strengths and talents and learn to act as a cohesive and tolerant Year 5 unit.
The activities include:
|Thursday 6 February||Friday 7 February|
The students will need to be at school by 8.00am for an 8.15am departure. The day concludes at 5.00pm and students are to be collected from the Balmoral Street entrance at 5.45pm each day.
We look forward to taking all the students to Bickley and are confident that they will behave appropriately and responsibly. However, if a situation arises where a student behaves inappropriately, his/her parents will be contacted immediately to come and collect them.
To ensure student safety when wearing harnesses for activities, students will need to wear their College sports uniform for both days.
Equipment/Items to Bring:
Drink bottle, School hat, Snack for recess*, Packed lunch*, Bathers/Swimmers, 1 pair of old shoes (which can get wet), Towel, Spare pair of socks and underwear.
*Students will carry their own recess and lunch on the day. Please ensure the items do not require refrigeration.
