Year 5 Big Day Out

Our Year 5’s have been enjoying their start to the year by participating in their “Big Day Out” days, held yesterday and today at Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp.

On these days, the students are challenged to develop the skills and mindset to be able to work as part of a team and to lead others. They participate in a number of team-building activities that aim to build their cooperation, communication and leadership skills as well as developing trust and interdependence.

The interaction between the students outside the school environment also assists in developing their social skills as they gain respect for others’ opinions, strengths and talents and learn to act as a cohesive and tolerant Year 5 unit.

They participate in raft building, catapults, crate climbing, search and rescue, orienteering, canoeing, swimming and get to enjoy a ride on the flying fox.
